Yesterday, the Cornerstone enjoyed a wonderful Easter celebration - Jesus is risen! I presented the case for the Resurrection. Did Jesus really die and rise again?
Of the three proofs I offered from 1 Corinthians 15:1-7, the one that really gripped my heart was the first. I called it the Pattern Evidence. Put simply, one reason I believe in the resurrection is that every single first century Christian every single first century Christian preacher believed in and staked their lives on the risen Jesus.
Every time the apostle Peter preached, he proclaimed the resurrection. He told the Pentecost crowd and the Israeli government and the Roman centurion (see Acts 2, 4, 10). Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica, "We believe that Jesus died and rose again ... - 1 Thessalonians 4:14 NIV Paul met the risen Jesus (Acts 9:1; 1 Corinthians 9:1). And it was the message of the crucified and raised Savior that he received and passed on to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). They received it. They staked their lives and eternities on it. It was the message that saved them if they remained in it.
Every day is Easter. Jesus lives in us. We live in him. Our lives are raised up with Christ. He is our life. You can stake your life on the living Jesus.
