Monday Rewind - March 20

This is a new feature at the FamousGod blog - a brief review of Sunday’s sermon.

On Sunday, I preached from Luke 4:38-41 about the powerful compassion displayed by the Lord Jesus Christ. He cared enough to help; he was powerful enough to make a difference.

Today’s review: Total Healing

The healings in Capernaum were the prelude to a much greater healing at the Cross. There, Jesus took upon himself the sin and suffering of the world. He bore the shame and the ruin caused by the Fall and by generations of sins and our own sins.

“He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” - Isaiah 53:5 NLT

We look forward to our future, total healing - the transformation of our bodies into the likeness of his own body - raised, glorified, ready for eternity with him (1 Corinthians 15:51; Philippians 3:20-21).

"We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control." - Philippians 3:20-21 NLT
