OUR CORE VALUES

Commit to Scripture

We're a Bible-based church because we're convinced that the Bible is the written, inspired and inerrant Word of God. We are committed to accurately teaching and preaching the Scriptures at every opportunity because in the Bible we find everything we need to find Jesus and to follow him. The core message of the Bible is the revelation of Christ and his cross for our salvation.

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:14-17

Culture of Prayer

Our church is committed to integrating prayer into every aspect of our ministry because we know that we need the Lord's direction and enabling power in everything we do. We want the Cornerstone to be a house of prayer, and we envision a time when every person, every need, every ministry, and every decision connected to our ministry is soaked in prayer. We also believe that God has ordained our prayers as a means of achieving his purposes in the world, especially to bring the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ to all nations.

“Never stop praying.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Cultivate Worship

Worship is more than a song; it is a 24/7 way of life. It is our surrender to the Lord's will and ways for his glory. We want to worship the Lord in every thought, motive, action, decision, and relationship. We are seeking to honor God in all of life.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” - Romans 12:1

Connect to Church

Loving relationships with fellow believers strengthen and grow our faith. Sunday mornings at the Cornerstone play an important role in this process. Also, we encourage everyone to join some kind of fellowship group in the church, such as a life group, Bible study, prayer or service group where healthy relationships can develop.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” - Hebrews 10:24-25

Compassionate Hearts

The Lord Jesus was a great leader, and he was a great servant. His compassion and love are legendary. We believe, therefore, that we best represent Jesus when we serve with loving, compassionate hearts in the church and the world. Bible teaching equips us to serve, and the Holy Spirit empowers us to serve.

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” - 1 Peter 4:10

Communicate Christ and His Cross

We believe that Christ and His Cross are the most important realities in the world. Therefore, we seek to communicate these through two kinds of outreach beyond the walls of the church: mercy and missions. In mercy, we care for physical needs and communicate the person of Christ. In missions, we care for spiritual needs and communicate the finished work of Christ. We want Cornerstone folks to be active in mercy and missions here and around the world - in our neighborhoods, in our nation, and the nations so that we can spread the Good News about Jesus Christ, our Savior, and God.

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:18-20
